Thomas was a 1969 Catasauqua High School graduate. Immediately following high school, he honorably served his nation in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Thomas worked as a hospital facility manager for the Allentown State Hospital for over 34 years before their closing in 2010. During retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially acting as their number one fan at baseball games. Thomas also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid sports fan. Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife, Julie, he is survived by son, Michael C. Martin and wife, Melissa of Slatington; Daughter, April L., wife of Scott Muth of Walnutport; grandsons, Connor, Nicolas, and Zachary; sisters, Paulette Hoffman of Bethlehem; Debra Szabo of Bethlehem; and Janette, wife of Kerry Hay of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in Thomas’ name to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., Catasauqua is entrusted with arrangements.
