Obituary for Virginia C. Short
Virginia C. Short, 90 years went to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at her home in Moravian Hall Square surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the widow of the late James Curtis Short. Formerly of Whitehall, Virginia was born in Kansas City, MO and was the daughter of the late George and Ruby Rippel. Virginia is a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Allentown. She is a member of the Allentown Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a sorority that served as a service and social club . Known as the “Trivia Queen” at Moravian Hall Square she was an avid bridge player and was a volunteer at her church and with the Blind Association. Surviving are a daughter Virginia wife of William Geist of Danielsville; son Robert C. husband of Davina Short; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Barry Lee Short and her brother William. Memorial services will be officiated by Rev. Eric Yeakel at 11:00am Saturday February 21, 2015 in Asbury United Methodist Church 1533 Springhouse Road Allentown, Pa. 18104. A calling period will be held from 9:30am until 11:00am in the church. Memorial contributions may be given in her name payable to Asbury United Methodist Church.
