Obituary for Walter T. Jones, Jr.
Walter T. “Tom” Jones Jr., 76 of Catasauqua, PA passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of 56 years to Gloria (Faust) Jones. Born in Allentown, PA on August 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Walter, Sr. and Esther (Gerhard) Jones.
He was a graduate of Catasauqua High School. Walter was a proud US Navy Veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis as an Aviation Boatswains Mate. He is a plank owner of the USS Enterprise CVA(N)65. Walter was employed by Mack Trucks for 41 years, where, after retirement, he served as an ambassador. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Catasauqua Fire Department for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Egypt VFW where he played an instrumental role in the restoration of the F14 tomcat. He was a devout Christian of Lutheran faith. Walter was a devoted husband, father, and pop. He enjoyed nothing more than being with his family. He loved to hunt & fish, as well as watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State football, Nascar (Dale Earnhardt, Sr.). He enjoyed collecting Catasauqua and military memorabilia.
In addition to his loving wife his is survived by his sons Michael Jones (W. Pittston) and his wife Becky and Jeffrey Jones (Catasauqua), daughter Kelly Nichols (Catasauqua) and her husband Eric; grandchildren Candice, Heather, Jordan, Jalen, Kayla and Landon and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Betty Jane Powell and grandson Jason Jones Nichols.
There will be a calling period from 9:30-11am Friday September 21st, 2018 at Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032. Funeral services will be at 11:00am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flower to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American SIDS Institute in care of the funeral home.
