Obituary for Weldon Clarke Harris, Jr.
Weldon Clarke Harris, Jr., 90, died Monday, February 22, 2021 with family by his side at his home in Perkasie. He was the husband of Jane (Hilliard) Harris and would have celebrated 64 years of marriage together this June. Born in Atlanta, GA he was the son of Weldon C. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Livingston) Harris.

Weldon received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a master’s in Civil Engineering from Tulane University. He honorably served his country during the Korean War as a Commander in the Navy and eventually retired from the Navy Reserves as Lt. Commander. He was proud of his service with the Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy SeaBees. With the SeaBees, Weldon traveled the world and was stationed in Morocco, North Africa, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Rhode Island, where he met Jane, his wife to be. Weldon continued his service as an active member of the Coast Guard for many years.

After the service Weldon went on to work for the State of Louisiana Water Works Department. He then moved to Pennsylvania and worked for a firm in New Jersey before opening his own civil engineering firm, Weldon C. Harris Associates in Doylestown.

Weldon instilled a strong work ethic in each of his children as well as a deep love and respect for family. He was a faithful husband, dedicated father and loving “Grampa” and “great Grampa”. Affectionately known as “Commander”, Weldon was a fixture at every family gathering, was always quick with a joke and enjoyed sharing meals together with the people he loved. Grits for breakfast, dessert anytime and tabasco on everything was how he liked things. He never missed an opportunity to play “Happy Birthday” on his harmonica for anyone in the family. Weldon was an avid sportsman, introducing his children to the joys of hunting, fishing, boating, sailing and the great outdoors.

Weldon will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving with his wife Jane, are his children Weldon C. Harris III and his wife Joanie, Winfield Hilliard Harris and his wife Cynthia, Reed Livingston Harris and his wife Beth, Kimberly Ellen Harris Brubaker and her husband J.
Andrew Brubaker, grandchildren Shannon Harris Beck and husband Randy, Kyle Clarke Harris and Laura Madsen, Renee Harris and fiance Nick Russell, Trevor Winfield Harris, Ian Reed Harris, Noelle Brynn Harris, Lucy Jane Brubaker, Jack Andrew Brubaker; great grandchildren Joshua Harris and Tyler Harris; nephew Paul Carastro and wife Mary Beth.
