Obituaries
William is survived by his wife, Carol (Keppel) Mondjack. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past April 27th. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Adele Schwartz-Munsterman and her husband, Michael Munsterman of Coplay and William F. Mondjack II of Derry, Ireland; his grandchildren, Frank Zachary Schwartz, Elizabeth Schwartz, and Freya; two step-grandchildren, a step great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, William J. Mondjack, Jr.; his sister, Sylvia Mondjack; and his son-in-law and first husband to Adele, Frank S. Schwartz.
William (Bill) graduated from Whitehall High School in 1964. He was a member of the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was a professional wedding photographer for over 30 years, and later on shifted his interest to photographing nature, which led to him providing photos for over a dozen magazine covers for various beekeeping magazines. He was employed by the United States Post Office in Whitehall for over 30 years. He started beekeeping as a hobby when he was in his thirties, which eventually led to him becoming a Master Beekeeper and starting his business, Mondjack Apiaries. He mentored many fellow beekeepers and gave educational talks to schoolchildren, clubs, and social groups. He sold his honey products at many local markets and at many of the local festivals. He served as President for the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers for several terms, and was editor of their newsletter for 26 years. He also contributed articles and photographs to many beekeeping publications over the years. His trip to Panama to work with the Africanized honeybees was one of his greatest adventures.
Bill had a deep appreciation for nature, and especially loved flowers, gardening, and animals. He led an active life and was always taking pictures. He loved telling stories and “saying it like it is” with no filter. He had an excellent sense of humor. Bill loved his family, his life, his country, and his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
