Obituary for William Roman III
William Roman III, 84 years, of North Catasauqua, died at his residence Tuesday September 29th 2015. He was the husband of Jane for 34 years, before her death last year. Bill was born in Coaldale to Mary Polansky and William Roman II.
Cars were Bill’s passion and he opened Roman's Body Shop in 1957. For 55 years he repaired and painted vehicles for the community of the Lehigh Valley. Bill was most proud of his first vehicle, a Blue 1932 Chevy.
Bill enjoyed making wine and Champaign and won numerous awards at contests throughout the United States in the Organic Wine & Champaign category. He was a highly acclaimed Champion with numerous #1 Awards for his home-made spirits.
Bill could often be found on a Golf Course, or Trapshooting throughout the U.S. He was also an avid hunter and fishermen. Bill spent much of his time with his wife Jane, hiking in the mountains. Bill, along with his wife, aunts, uncles, and daughter, enjoyed picking mushrooms throughout the region.
Bill served in the National Guard from 1953 - 1957 as a Sergeant. He was a 1950 Graduate of Whitehall High School where he played football and baseball, and was involved in many high school clubs and activities
Bill is survived by his 3 children from his first wife Rita; daughter Donna, sons Butch and wife Linda & Bob and wife Judy; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was the beloved great gram-pop-pop of 2 grandsons who adored him. Also surviving is his Aunt Pauline, and Uncle Dan. He also has many cousins.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
