Obituary for Sophie Patchinka
Sophie Patchinka, 101, formerly of North Catasauqua, passed away on February 3, 2021, at Phoebe Nursing Home, Allentown. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Patchinka who passed away in 1976. Born in Bath on April 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Katie (Holuko) Novak.

Sophie was a life-long, faithful member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, except for the years she worked in the garment industry. Later, she spent time at her beloved “garden shop”. It was a job she loved!

Sophie was a phenomenal baker, cook, seamstress, and gardener of both vegetables and flowers. Most of her meals were prepared with items right from her garden. She was a devoted mother, loving baba and doting big-baba. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to all those who tended to Sophie at Phoebe Nursing Home. The staff and especially their manager, Manny, truly cared for her.
Sophie is survived by three daughters: Monica, wife of Thomas Tassi, North Catasauqua; Patricia, wife of Martin Hacker, North Catasauqua; and Roxane, wife of Daniel Guzie, Allentown; seven grandchildren: Tara Winkelbauer, T.J. Tassi, Michael Hacker, Kathryn Pammer, Belle Hacker, Rebecca Keck, and Anthony Guzie; and nine great-grandchildren: Derrick Russell, Gianna Winkelbauer, Cecelia Winkelbauer, Jacob Tassi, Hailey Baez, Gavin Hacker, Weston Pammer, Bowen Pammer and Lennon Keck. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen John and six sisters: Mary Mayorak, Anna Krawchuk, Helen Novak, Rose Zwiryk, Catherine Terleski, and Margaret Matika.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday, February 9th at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1357 Newport Ave, Northampton, PA 18067. Her viewing will be from 8:30am - 9:30am at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, PA. 18037.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Phoebe Nursing Home, 1925 W. Turner St., Allentown, PA. 18104.

Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. is honored and entrusted in the arrangements.
