Obituaries
She was an active member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church and the former St. Lawrence Church where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee, Catasauqua/North Catasauqua J4 Committee, and the Catasauqua/North Catasauqua Halloween Parade Committee for many years.
Mary Elizabeth valued her work as a teacher in the gifted/Enrichment program and Librarian for the Parkland School District then at The Jewish Day School in Allentown for over 20 years. She was also the Teaching Librarian at Temple El in Allentown. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Alvernia and two master’s degrees from Villanova: one degree in Library Science and the other in English.
She received many accolades. She was very active in her life and the community. She was President of Women’s Club of Catasauqua and a member of their Board of Trustees, In the 70’s she was Teacher of the Year and placed 3rd in the State of Pennsylvania as well as names to WHO’s WHO of Top 50 educators. She received Lehigh Valley Hospital’s Woman of the Year Award as well as the Chaplain Award. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving along with her husband William are her daughter Shannon McGinley-Jaindl, and husband John F. Jaindl; son, Shawn McGinley, and wife Laura; grandchildren; Liam, Finnegan McGinley, Blake, Blaine, and Brennen Jaindl.
A calling period will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 1239 Third Street, Catasauqua, PA. 18032. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Interment at St. Lawrence The Martyr R.C. Church Cemetery in North Catasauqua. We ask that all in attendance adhere to social distancing protocols and wear a facial covering.
