Obituary for John "Johnny Generic" G. Backhus, IV
John G. Backhus IV, “Johnny Generic”, 66 years, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday February 11th, 2019 in his home. He was the companion of Flaxine Grube. Born in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late John and Muriel (Pross) Backhus III.
He was employed in the layout department at the Fuller Co. for 31 years and then drove forklift for the Mallard Co. for several years before retiring. He was very involved in the local music and tattoo scene for many years and also as a DJ and host for the “Up to No Good” radio show on WLVR. Above all, he loved his family and friends very much.
Surviving are his sons Jon M., Jamie C. and his wife Michele, and Dewey R. Powell and his companion Natasha, sister Joanne G. Hoyas, grandchildren Mikayla Powell and Anna Backhus, nephews and great nieces, wife Debra L. (Cool) Backhus, and former wife Robin A. Heiserman.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-7PM on Saturday February 23rd, 2019 at the American Legion Post #215, 330 2nd St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032 is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to the family c/o the funeral home.
