Obituary for Catherine P. Stitts
Catherine P. Stitts 81 years of Cocoa Beach, Florida formerly of Catasauqua died Monday January 26, 2009 in Florida. She was the wife of the late George J. Stitts Sr. who died July 12, 1990. Born in Patton, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Welchko) Paddock. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua and a member of Church of Our Saviour of Cocoa Beach, Fl. where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Katie had worked in Weis’s Market meat department of Allentown for many years before retiring. Surviving are daughter Bonnie S. wife of Robert A. Hammel (Katie’s favorite son in law) of Allentown, sons George J. Stitts Jr. husband of Holly C. Stitts of Northampton, Craig A. Stitts of Catasauqua and a brother Joseph Paddock of Patton, Pa. Five grandchildren Amy L. wife of Dan Kuhns, Simon E. Hammel, Aaron J. Hammel, Benjamin C. Hammel and Nathan B. Hammel. Three great grandchildren Bethany S. Kuhns, Ryan S. Kuhns and Tyler J. Kuhns. She was preceded in death by a brother Paul Paddock. Katie enjoyed her life and friends in Cocoa Beach. Her involvement with Church of Our Saviour was very important to her. She spoke highly of the efforts of volunteers in the church and the success of their fundraisers, particularly the block party! She cherished her part in the Eucharistic Ministry and was grateful for the warmth of her church community. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday February 2, 2009 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Second and Union Streets Catasauqua. Call 4:30pm until 6:00pm Sunday February 1st and 9:30am until 10:30am Monday in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua. A memorial service will also be held in Cocoa Beach.
