Obituary for Deborah A. Spess
Deborah A. Spess entered into eternal life in peace and pain free on 12-28-11, in the loving embrace of her children. She was surrounded by her family and friends. On April 15, 1978, Debbie married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Spess. They were married for thirty three years this April. The daughter of Carol, of Catasauqua and the late John Morgan, she was born October 23, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY. In April of 1988, Debbie gave birth to her first born; her son Caleb. Two years later, she gave birth to her second born; her daughter Amanda. She coached Caleb and cheered with Amanda throughout their athletic careers. Debbie watched her two beautiful babies grow into strong and amazing adults. Debbie received local news recognition for never missing a game, quarter or competition of Amanda and Caleb’s sports careers while she underwent surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. Debbie was an avid sports fan and volunteer. She received numerous awards, including an All-State achievement, while playing field hockey and softball for Catasauqua High School. Debbie’s high school sports career then turned into a short recreational career playing for the Patriot Lazers of Allentown. Debbie enjoyed watching Sunday football with her family. She was a Barber/Stylist for many years, co-owning Family Hair Care and then Shear Madness in Catasauqua until complications from disease forced her to retire. Debbie and Tom spent the majority of their lives together living with unfailing love for one another. They were truly soul mates. Tom was her “rock”. She was selflessly devoted to family, friends, the less fortunate and disadvantaged, most often putting their needs and desires above her own. She loved interacting with people and meeting new friends. Debbie is survived by her husband, Thomas of Catasauqua, two beautiful children; Amanda and Caleb and their loved ones Craig and Katie, her mother; Carol M. Morgan of Catasauqua, her brother; John W. Morgan Jr. and his wife Judy of Catasauqua, and her favorites, her puppies; Callie and Maddie. Debbie had many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 2, 2012 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 10:00am until 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown. Deb loved flowers of all sizes shapes and colors. Should you prefer a more lasting memorial please choose The American Cancer Society.
