Obituary for James R. DeVore
James R. DeVore, 90, of Breinigsville, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in his residence. He was the husband of the late Margaret D. (Evans) DeVore. Born in Monongahela, PA, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Millie J. (Blythe) DeVore. He was employed by New Jersey Zinc in Palmerton as a research physicist for 43 years before retiring in 1980. He held a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. Survivors include sons, Stephen F. of Catasauqua, Russell B. of Bloomsburg, Douglas E. of West Jordan, UT, Philip W. of York, daughter, Ann L. of Breinigsville, brother Guy C. of Lehigh Acres, FL, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois A., brothers, Henry B. and Lloyd T. DeVore. A memorial service will be held at 4pm April 29th, 2006 in the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, located at 2nd and Pine Streets in Catasauqua. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Allentown Rescue Mission, 355 W. Hamilton St. P.O. Box 748. Allentown, PA. 18105-0748, or to the Salvation Army, 144 N. 8th St. Allentown, 18101. John H. Brubaker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
