Obituary for Edward F. Sperlbaum Jr.
Edward F. Sperlbaum Jr. 87 years, died in his Catasauqua residence surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday June 5, 2012. He was married for 65 years to his loving wife Margaret (Check) Sperlbaum. Born in Catasauqua he was the son of the late Edward F. Sperlbaum Sr. and Helena (Sillers) Sperlbaum. Edward retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 41 years of service working as a crane operator and heater. He had worked as a part time Catasauqua police officer for 17 years. Edward served his country in the US Army during WWII in Okinawa. He was a former member of the Catasauqua Drum and Bugle Corp and a life member and past commander of the Catasauqua American Post # 215. Edward was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua. Surviving with his wife Margaret are daughters Ann wife of Bruce Rogers of Northampton, Marie wife of William Silfies of N. Catasauqua, son Edward F. Sperlbaum III and his wife Gail Sperlbaum of Allentown. Edward has 6 grandchildren, Kristin, Brittany, Kimberly, Justin, Sara, Laura and 2 great grandchildren Ariyanna and Keanu. He was preceded in death by his sister Marie and brother Larry. His viewing will be 9:00am until 10:30am Wednesday June 13, 2012 in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday June 13 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church 122 Union Street Catasauqua. Following the mass his funeral procession will stop at the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215 where military honors will be performed. Memorial contributions may be given in his name payable to Lehigh Valley Hospice 2166 S. 12th Street Allentown, Pa. 18103.
